The school held our very first storytelling with the whole class for summer. Our storyteller wore the Robinhood costume that made the children in awe when they saw it. The importance of storytelling to kids is cannot be understated. In addition to providing an excellent opportunity to learn, storytelling plays an important role in language and cognitive development. Stories are a powerful tool for teaching kids. When children hear stories, it can help them learn about important values as they are introduced to new ideas, and exercise their creative thinking. Storytelling also enriches children’s emotional intelligence. One of the primary benefits of storytelling is that it can help teach children important lessons about right and wrong, good and evil, and other virtues. Stories can also help children develop a sense of empathy for others, and learn how to resolve conflicts effectively.
Our students sat down quietly while listening to the story of Robinhood and when the storyteller asked questions they are all eager to participate especially, when the students were asked to find the gold coins in the hallway. Everyone was very excited, looked for them, and found it. The students kept on engaging until the end of the story. The storyteller emphasized in this short story that we should know what is right from wrong. We must also be courageous to stand against injustice and be prepared to help the needy and less fortunate.
